As the race for PSL promotion heats up in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Kruger United took one step closer to their target, while Hungry Lions strengthened their playoff ambitions.
Sitting at the top of the pile, Kruger United recorded a crucial 2-1 win against Cape Town City on Wednesday afternoon to go five points clear at the summit.
In turn, Kruger moved onto 52 points while extending their winning streak to four matches, as City now face the tough task of maintaining third position on the log.
The result saw City continue their run of two matches without collecting maximum points, with Milford breathing down their necks in fourth place.
However, Milford likewise suffered defeat this week following a 1-0 loss to Venda Football Academy on Wednesday.
As it stands, Milford and City share the same amount of points (44) with four games left to play in the league.
Hungry Lions, who are making things interesting at the top end of the log, recorded a 4-2 victory against the University of Pretoria on Wednesday.
As a result, Hungry Lions moved three points clear of City and Milford.
Elsewhere, Casric Stars kept their playoff dreams alive following a 3-0 win against Highbury on Tuesday.
Casric thus made amends for their 2-0 loss to Black Leopards in their prior fixture, as they ended their latest assignment in fifth position, one point adrift of a promotion playoff spot.
